image004(2)Professional photographer Matt Alberts released the third video companion from the SUN chapter of The Seasons Collection – a wet plate photography initiative highlighting those who have dedicated their lives to their passions, aka LIFERS. The video highlights all that happened this past week in San Francisco as the crew met up with legendary skateboarder and biker John Cardiel, visual artist Jeremy Fish, Deluxe Skateboard superstars Jim Thiebaud, Damon Thorly, and Andy Pitts, and Ritchey Logic designer Fergus Liam.

Matt’s mission is to document LIFERS: people that have given their heart and soul and committed every ounce of energy to pursue an activity like snowboarding, skateboarding or surfing… anything inspired by pure, unadulterated joy and happiness. He uses wet collodion photography (see below), a 19th Century technique known for its sensitivity to UV light, long exposure times, and enduring images, to create truly timeless photo collections.

The Seasons Collection,” a multi-media photography collection of adventure sports-driven stories about people who push the limits in pursuit of their passion. Using wet collodion photography, “The Seasons Collection” follows individuals and finds the correlation between what drives them and the seasons that inspire them. The journey is divided into three month-long trips, or collections, representing the different seasons that inspire LIFERS. The first collection, SNOW, featured people whose passions are driven by winter sports, such as snowboarding and skiing. For the second, SUN, we’ll travel along the West Coast to find those who are influenced by skateboarding, cycling, and other warm weather sports. For the final collection, WATER, we’ll travel through the Northeast in pursuit of capturing the surfing community as well as other water-based pursuits.
